He was absent from the first trailer, but it seems that Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen has let slip a spoiler about his role in Decembers’ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story during an interview with Sky News.
“I read the script and it was very beautiful,” said Mikkelsen, when asked about the hotly-anticipated spinoff. “Felicity Jones is playing this lovely, strong woman. I play her… father.”

Mikkelsen’s comments about him portraying Jyn Erso’s father tally up with a rumour from back in January, which highlighted the relationship between the two characters. That same rumour suggested that Mikkelsen was playing a scientist who takes over development of the Death Star and is instrumental in the realisation of the superweapon. However, feeling guilty about the terror he’s unleashed, he decides to defect to the Rebellion and enlists the help of his daughter in an effort to make things right.

ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY, is the first film in the new standalone movies from Lucasfilm. It tells the story of how a group of unlikely heroes unite to undertake a daring and seemingly impossible mission to steal the plans for the Death Star.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for release on December 16th 2016, with a cast that includes Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Diego Luna (Milk), Ben Mendelsohn (The Dark Knight Rises), Donnie Yen (Ip Man), Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly), Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Alan Tudyk (Con Man) and Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler).
