Having made her directorial debut on the second movie, Elizabeth Banks has now pulled out of directing Universal’s Pitch Perfect 3 citing parental responsibilities following a rescheduling for the production.
“We’ve been in development and it’s taking longer than we thought,” said Banks. “I thought I was going to direct the movie in the summer. It was really important to me to direct the movie in summer because if we pushed into fall it bumped up against my parental responsibilities, which made me feel uncomfortable.”
Pitch Perfect 3 was originally slated for release in June 2017, before being pushed back to a Christmas release. Despite vacating the director’s chair, Banks will still reprise her role as Gail, as well as remaining involved as a producer.
