Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures has snapped up the rights to Matt Ruff’s 2007 novel Bad Monkeys, and has attached Margot Robbie to star and produce.
The psychological thriller “centers on Jane Charlotte, who has been arrested for murder. She says she’s a member of a secret organization devoted to fighting evil and that she’s working with the Department for the Final Disposition of Irredeemable Persons — aka “Bad Monkeys.” Her confession lands her in the jail’s psychiatric wing and earns her countless hours of poking, probing, and questioning by a professional. Is Jane crazy or lying? Or is she playing a whole different game altogether?”
Robbie can currently appearing in cinemas as Jane in The Legend of Tarzan, and will be seen next month as the DC fan favourite Harley Quinn in the DC supervillain team-up Suicide Squad.
