Before she takes on the role of Captain Marvel in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Brie Larson (Room) is set to make her feature directorial debut, with The Hollywood Reporter revealing that the actress is set to helm the indie comedy Unicorn Store.
The Oscar-winner will also produce and star in the project, which has been scripted by Samantha McIntyre and “of a woman named Kit who, after moving back in with her parents, receives a mysterious invitation to a store that will test her idea of what it really means to grow up.” Larson does have previous directing experience with the short film The Arm, which won the Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival back in 2012.
Larson has several movies on the horizon in Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire, musical comedy Basmati Blues, coming of age drama The Glass Castle, and next year’s monster movie Kong: Skull Island. She is also expected to make her debut as Captain Marvel in Avengers: Infinity War ahead of the character’s solo movie in 2019.
