The X-Men franchise is heading to the small screen next year, with FX set to air Legion, and Fox developing another as-yet-unrevealed X-themed project.
Legion creator Noah Hawley has previously revealed that the series is more standalone than an integral part of the wider franchise, and executive producer Bryan Singer has reiterated that during an appearance at the Edinburgh Television Festival, although he also teased that both series “will relate to future X-Men movies.”
“[Legion is] part of the X-Men universe, but when you watched it, you wouldn’t have to label it, it could exist completely on its own,” said Singer (via THR), who then added that both shows “will relate to future X-Men movies” and feature a “really ambitious and fun and very unique storyline”.

As yet, there’s been no official word as to the future of the main X-Men franchise, while Singer has said that he plans to take a break from the mutant superhero series following this year’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
