Almost a year ago to the day it was reported that Sony Pictures was looking to relaunch its Millennium franchise with an adaptation of the fourth book in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series, The Girl in the Spider’s Web, and now it looks like the studio may have found its director.
Variety is reporting that Evil Dead and Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez is in talks with Sony to helm the film, which is based upon David Lagercrantz’s novel, and has been scripted by Steven Knight (Burnt).
Production on The Girl in the Spider’s Web is slated to get underway early next year, and it’s thought that Sony will take the opportunity to restart the franchise, which means recasting the roles of Mikael Blomkvist and Lisbeth Salander, played by Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara in David Fincher’s 2011 adaptation of n.
