Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan is set to make her feature directorial debut with Tupperware Party, Deadline is reporting. Gillan has also written the screenplay for the film, and will also star.
Tupperware Party is being produced by Mt. Hollywood Films, a new independent production company focussed on working with females and minorities. Plans are also afoot for the female-driven action film Texas Rangers: Z-Unit, which has been scripted by Mitch Iverson (Voltron).
“We believe this is a substantial opportunity to engage a very talented and underutilized pool of talent, collaborating on films they’re excited about making,” said R. Andru Davies, president of Mt. Hollywood. “Along with artist-driven projects, Mt. Hollywood seeks to partner with other production companies on compelling stories that appeal to audiences worldwide.”
Gillan was most recently seen alongside Ethan Hawke in In a Valley of Violence and has Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Jumanji, The Circle and All Creatures Here Below set for release in 2017.
