It looks like Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda is keen to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it seems he’s already got a good idea which character he’d like to play – the serial killer Cletus Kasady, a.k.a. Carnage!
Speaking on the latest episode of Meet the Movie Press, reporter Simon Thompson said he’d recently interviewed Miranda, and that, “he is a big fan of Marvel. And there is one particular character that he would actually like to play. It’s Carnage. He said if Disney and Marvel were looking at doing a Maximum Carnage movie or bringing Carnage in [the Marvel Cinematic Universe] as a character, he wants to be Carnage. Genuinely as a fan, he would love to play Carnage. That’s a goal of his.”
Now of course, you can probably count on one hand the number of actors who wouldn’t want to be part of the MCU, but Miranda does already have a good working relationship with Disney; he’s contributed to the soundtrack for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and has written music for Moana and the upcoming live-action remake of The Little Mermaid, while he also has a role in Mary Poppins Returns.
Carnage is yet to appear on the big screen, although Sony was planning on using the character alongside Venom in a movie prior to the deal to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
