Those hoping for Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine to team up on the big screen may be getting their wish granted, if a new report from TheWrap is to be believed.
According to “an individual with knowledge” of the upcoming Logan film, Reynolds recently shot a scene as the Merc with the Mouth that may end up becoming a post-credits scene in the film. The scene was reportedly directed by Deadpool 2 helmer David Leitch.

This story comes from former Heroic Hollywood writer Umberto Gonzalez, whose track record with big superhero “scoops” like this one are hit and miss, so take this with a grain of adamantium-coated salt. However, considering the box office success of Deadpool this year and the apparent retiring of the Wolverine character from the X-Men film franchise, a move like this to pass the torch from one beloved mutant to another makes sense.
If the news is indeed true, it will mark the second time Deadpool and Wolverine have crossed paths on the big screen, the first of course being the much-maligned X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009.
UPDATE: Well, it looks like El Mayimbe has struck again, as both Ryan Reynolds, director James Mangold and Hugh Jackman have all strongly denied the “scoop”:
Sadly, not true. Prisoner 24601 is on a solo mission. https://t.co/5czBmMRfY1

Ask @TheWrap first, James. They can give you a fictitious answer and then I will correct it.

"@TheWrap has not reported Deadpool & Logan would appear side-by-side." Cause Deadpool ain't in the film, pal. Keep backtracking.#fakenews

DEADPOOL IS NOT IN MY FILM. Does all caps help confirm it?
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 28, 2016
First @TheWrap reports a falsity. $$. Then they report my denial as a whole new story. $$! How about you just take down the original lie?
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
They keep printing false stories about my film. Not the first time.
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
Yeah. That was like Cotillard-gate. Thank God we got scribes like Umberto. BTW Deadpool still ain't in my movie.
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
They eagerly distort what they heard, enlarge it, not for accuracy but clicks. #NoDeadpoolInLogan
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
So GV. What you gonna do when it turns out Deadpool isn't in the film? Gonna write back and tell Umberto he lied?
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
See you March 4. BTW. @TheWrap was also wrong about Mister Sinister and the year the film takes place. #Fakenews
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
Not in movie. Not in credits. Not in main titles. Not in a Box. Not with a Fox. Give it up.
— Mangold (@mang0ld) December 29, 2016
you can wait and see. Since I cowrote, directed and I am currently cutting and mixing, I know and already told you.
