As awards season begins to heat up, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced that twenty films remain in contention for a nomination in the category of Best Visual Effects at the 91st Academy Awards.

A Quiet Place
Ready Player One
Solo: A Star Wars Story

From the above list, ten will move forward to the voting stage, with five then securing a nomination. The nominees for the 91st Academy Awards will be announced in January 2019 ahead of the Oscar ceremony on February 24th 2019.
