According to Deadline, Warner Bros. is currently developing a sequel to the live-action / animation hybrid Space Jam, with Miami Heat star LeBron James reportedly in line to star alongside Bugs Bunny and company (although SportsCenter is quoting sources close to the NBA star as suggesting he’s not involved).
Space Jam was released in 1996 and saw basketball legend Michael Jordan lining up on the court with the likes of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the Tasmanian Devil to take on the evil Monstars. The film also starred Bill Murray, along with appearances from NBA stars such as Larry Bird, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Shawn Bradley, Larry Johnson and Muggsy Bogues. It went on to earn over $230 million around the globe, making it the highest-grossing basketball movie of all time.
Space Jam 2 is being developed by Charlie Ebersol (Ithuteng: Never Stop Learning), who will produce through his own production company from a script by his brother Willie Ebersol.
