According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures has decided to scrap its plans for a big screen sequel to 2013’s Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and is instead looking to rework the project as a television series through Paramount TV and MGM.

The news is somewhat surprising given that Paramount only enlisted director Bruno Aveillan to helm the sequel back in August, and Deadline’s report goes on to suggest that at this point its unclear whether stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton will have any involvement with the TV series, although it is likely that the project will start afresh.
Hansel & Gretel is the second Paramount property to make the jump to the small screen recently, following in the footsteps of Jack Ryan.
