Neill Blomkamp to direct sci-fi The Gone World

November 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

With Alien 5 now on indefinite hold due to Ridley Scott’s Alien: Paradise Lost, Deadline is reporting that director Neill Blomkamp is in talks to direct an adaptation of Thomas Sweterlitsch’s upcoming sci-fi novel The Gone World, which has been optioned by 20th Century Fox.

Several studios were said to be interested in the rights to the book, which is described as “a sci-fi time travel procedural.” Should Blomkamp reach a deal with Fox, he will also write the script for the adaptation.

Blomkamp’s most recent film Chappie was released earlier this year, but struggled with the critics and grossed just $102 million around the globe, less than half that of his two previous movies District 9 and Elysium.
