Rob Liefeld’s Prophet could be heading to the big screen

November 23, 2015 by Gary Collinson

Rob Liefeld’s creator-owned comic book series Prophet could be set for a big screen adaptation, with The Tracking Board reporting that Liefeld is pitching the project as a movie, with 20th Century Fox apparently showing some interest in what is being described as “a mix between The Martian, Mad Max and Avatar“.

The character of John Prophet is a homeless man who finds himself transformed into a supersoldier by a time-travelling scientist from the future. He first appeared in Image Comics’ Youngblood #2 in 1992, before receiving his own ongoing series the following year, which ran for 11 issues. A second series followed in 1995, while the character was revived once again in 2012, and has a new series Prophet: Earth War planned for 2016.
