The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Tri-Star has closed a deal with The Jim Henson Company for a reboot of the cult fantasy adventure Labyrinth, which will be written by Nicole Perlman, co-writer on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and the upcoming Captain Marvel.
Labyrinth was directed by Jim Henson, with George Lucas executive producing, and starred Jennifer Connelly as a teenage girl whose baby brother is kidnapped by the Goblin King Jareth, played by the late David Bowie. In order to rescue the infant, she is forced to navigate a fantastical maze.

The site goes on to report that at this point, it’s unclear whether the new movie will be a sequel to the original, or a reimagining.
UPDATE: Looks like it may be a sequel after all, with Perlman posting the following message on Twitter…
