Deadline is reporting that Academy Award winners Adam McKay (The Big Short) and Jennifer Lawrence (Joy) are to team up on an upcoming medical drama.
McKay is behind the film and will write and direct with Lawrence taking on the lead role of Elizabeth Holmes, the 32-year-old founder of medical company Theranos, a start-up blood testing company that was founded in 2003.
Theranos claimed to have “revolutionized blood testing by being able to use only a pinprick of blood, rather than traditional methods of drawing blood by injection.” The company has most recently been under scrutiny over inaccurate results, with Holmes’ net worth is now said to be a fraction of the once valued $4.5 billion.
Lawrence can next be seen this Christmas opposite Chris Pratt in the anticipated sci-fi film Passengers. McKay’s next project is producing duties on Will Ferrell-Amy Poehler comedy The House.
