Deadline is reporting that Andrew Adamson, director of the first two instalments of the Shrek and The Chronicles of Narnia franchises, has signed on helm a live-action adaptation of Hans Augusto Rey and Margret Rey’s beloved children’s book series Curious George.
The film is being developed by Imagine Entertainment and Universal Pictures, who were responsible for the 2006 animated movie, with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, David Kirschner and Jon Shapiro once again serving as producers. In addition to directing, Adamson will co-write the script, and executive produce.
Curious George follows the adventures of a young monkey called George, who is brought from his home in Africa by ‘The Man with the Yellow Hat’ to live with him in America. The series has sold over 75 million copies worldwide since its launch back in 1941.
