An adaptation of the popular video game and critical darling, Uncharted, has been in the works for some time, and now it seems filming for the project will finally get underway this spring.
We heard a few weeks ago that the script was complete and according to the website myentertainmentworld.com, via All the Stuff You Care About, Uncharted is due to begin shooting this April in Columbia. Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) is directing from a script by Joe Carnahan (The Grey).
A synopsis for the adventure movie has also been uncovered:
“A descendant of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nathan Drake believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, a cursed golden statue. the search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray.”
Video game movies haven’t exactly set the world alight but Uncharted surely has a good a chance as any of succeeding. We will have to wait and see on that of course, and hope that this is the one to break the curse.
