With Peter Capaldi announcing that he’s calling time on his role as The Doctor, the bookmakers wasted little time in drawing up a shortlist for his potential successor on the long-running BBC sci-fi Doctor Who.
One name that was perhaps unsurprisingly absent from the initial betting was Danny Dyer, but the EastEnders star has now revealed that he’d be keen to take on the role as the first Cockney Doctor.
“I think I could do it easy,” Dyer told The Daily Star. I’d keep my accent too.”

Dyer’s contract on EastEnders is apparently up later this year, so schedule-wise, he’d be free to take over from Capaldi, who is set to make his exit from Doctor Who in this year’s Christmas Special.
