Dear, or dear… Things really just don’t seem to be going right for Warner Bros. with The Batman at the moment.
After Ben Affleck decided to walk away from directing duties on the next Dark Knight solo movie, the studio moved quickly to secure a replacement, offering the gig to Cloverfield, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes helmer Matt Reeves.
Well, after a week of talks, THR is reporting that talks have now broken down and Reeves has now exited negotiations, although they may resume “when heads cool”.

Apparently, Ridley Scott (Alien: Covenant) and Fede Alvarez (Don’t Breathe) were also under consideration prior to Reeves receiving an offer, so it’s possible the studio could turn its attention back to either of those.
The site also reports that “the studio is intent on making the movie no matter what as the Batman franchise has proven to bigger than one person.”
That’s all well and good, but it’s not going to direct itself…
