HBO has announced that it is developing a miniseries based upon the 2016 Presidential Election and Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton in what has been described as one of the biggest political upsets of all time.
The miniseries will be based upon the upcoming third instalment of Mark Halperin and John Heilemann’s Game Change book series, and will reunite director Jay Roach and executive producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, who were behind the Emmy-winning 2012 HBO film Game Change, which explored John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.
“We are thrilled to continue our relationship with Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, whose work on their bestselling book Game Change set the bar for political reporting and storytelling inside a presidential campaign,” said Len Amato, president of HBO Films. “Reuniting Game Change director and executive producer Jay Roach and Playtone producers Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman with Mark and John for a project based on their upcoming book promises to vividly capture the most unique and impactful event in modern American politics.”
