Some disappointing news for the one or two people still holding out hope for a follow-up to Terminator Genisys, as The New York Daily News is reporting that Paramount Pictures has let the options lapse on stars Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke.
“It is over for The Terminator and Arnold,” claims the site’s source. “The studio has taken the sequel off the production slate completely, meaning there is no pre-production or any plans for another sequel. The talent had been offered long-term deals, but this is not happening.”
This isn’t really news, as it was announced back in January of last year that Paramount had pulled the planned Terminator 2 and Terminator 3 from its release schedule, after the disappointing box office returns for Terminator Genisys.
However, the franchise may not be dead for long, as it has previously been rumoured that series creator James Cameron is teaming up with Deadpool director Tim Miller for a reboot of the sci-fi action series once the rights revert back to Cameron in 2019.
