We had heard some weeks ago that the young Han Solo anthology movie would reveal the true name behind the legendary character before he took up the moniker he would become famous for.
But apparently Disney CEO Bob Iger’s comments weren’t correct – or rather they were just misunderstood. That is according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
Speaking to MTV, Kennedy reaffirmed that the movie won’t reveal how Solo got his name, but what Iger actually meant is that the galaxy will learn who Han is through his adventures in the film.
“I’m not sure that that’s entirely what Bob meant. There’s more to Han Solo’s name, but it’s not that it’s not his name. It’s obviously his name. It will always be his name,” Kennedy said.
Well, that’s that sorted then. Panic over.
This week has also given us a look at an alien from the Han Solo movie. This comes our way via a new video for the Force is Change charity drive., with Warwick Davis chatting to the film’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Lord then spins the camera around revealing a multi-eyed alien just hanging out.
The video doesn’t give much away but it’s always interesting to get these looks behind the scenes, and helps provide just a glimpse of what to expect when the movie debuts next year.
Han Solo hits theaters on May 25th, 2018 and also stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Caesar!) as the famous smuggler, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (War for the Planet of the Apes) as Beckett (Solo’s mentor), Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag) as a droid. Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Thandie Newton (Westworld), Ian Kenny (Sing Street) and Michael K. Williams (The Night Of) have been cast in unrevealed roles. The film is being directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, best known for helming 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie.
