Director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, James Gunn, is hoping to encourage Sylvester Stallone to continue his journey in the MCU beyond his upcoming debut in the Marvel sequel.
Having learned from Sly himself his thoughts on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that he is having a great time so far, it wouldn’t be all that surprising to see him perhaps pop up again beyond his upcoming role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
And this is just what director James Gunn has in mind, wanting to make him, and his character, a mainstay component of the Marvel franchise.
During a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, Gunn said, “It’s my plan to have Sly — and I talked to him last night — to find a place for him in the future of the Marvel Universe.”
A lot of this will surely depends on audience reactions to his performance and character, but if all goes as planned, getting a star like Sly on board for future instalments, with the Guardians or without, would surely only benefit the series going forward.
