With season seven of the AMC show that never ends bringing in the worst numbers for the finale in five years, it’s safe to say the folks at AMC are looking to the future of The Walking Dead – while still longing for the glory days of old.
As fans of the comic will know, a pretty hefty time jump is on the horizon, and showrunner Scott M. Gimple has spoken about the subject and whether we’ll see it in season eight during a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
“For the people who read the comics, they’re going to be expecting [the time jump],” says Gimple. “I will say there are things that happen in that time jump that are referred to that are super interesting. And thus we might see some of that stuff; it might not be the same sort of jump, or we’ll do that two to five years in real time”.
These are certainly interesting comments from Gimple, suggesting that they might just show what happened during those 2-5 years instead of skipping straight to the good stuff. I wonder which fans will prefer…
Meanwhile, speaking on The Talking Dead, Gimple teased the upcoming eighth season, stating that: “It’s going to be bigger, it’s going to be more intense. I say these things and I’ve meant them every year and I think we’ve actually accomplished that. This year, same thing. More intense. The first 4 episodes will melt people’s minds and break their televisions.”
