Fans of The Witcher franchise have a big reason to be excited right now. Netflix is developing a series based on Andrzej Sapkowski’s Witcher novels – a saga that spans eight books and has spawned a hit video game franchise. Sapkowski will serve as a creative consultant to the series with The Expanse‘s Sean Daniel and Jason Brown as executive producers.
The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia, one of the world’s most powerful Witchers. These are hunters who are trained from a young age with supernatural abilities to destroy evil and deadly monsters of all kinds.
“I’m thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories, staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing,” said Sapkowski. “I’m excited about our efforts together, as well as the team assembled to shepherd these characters to life.”

Platige Image’s Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko will also be producing the series, saying “There is a moral and intellectual depth in these books which goes beyond genre. It is a story about today and today’s challenges, hidden under a fantasy cover. It is a story about us, about the monster and the hero inside all of our hearts.”
