Back in October of last year it was reported that Warner Bros. had snapped up the rights to the Willy Wonka character from the estate of Roald Dahl, and had tapped Harry Potter producer David Heyman to develop a prequel exploring the early years of the eccentric Chocolate Factory owner.
Well, according to The Hashtag Show (via Dark Horizons), it seems that Warner Bros. and Heyman may have identified their Willy Wonka, with the site reporting that Ryan Gosling has reportedly expressed his interest in stepping into the shoes of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp by taking on the role of the character.
Little is known about the project at present, although Heyman has stressed that it is “not a remake” and “is possibly an origin story”.
