Director David Ayer is at Comic-Con to promote his new movie Bright starring Will Smith and Joel Edgerton [watch the trailer here], and IGN caught up with the Suicide Squad helmer to ask him about his next DCEU project, Gotham City Sirens, and what drew him to the movie.
“It’s a story about three fantastic women who’re trying to find their way in the world and realize that they have more power together than they do individually,” said Ayer. “I have daughters, and I want to create something that might be able to help them get along in the world a little bit.”
Asked whether Harley Quinn will be getting a new look for his next outing in the DCEU, Ayer responded: “Let’s put a pin in that. Maybe next Comic-Con. Everybody evolves…”
Although details on Gotham City Sirens are scarce, we do know that Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn is set to be joined by Catwoman and Poison Ivy. We could potential be seeing a lot more of Ms. Quinzell too – presumably she’ll be returning for the Suicide Squad sequel, and a rumour emerged yesterday that Warner Bros. is planning to reunite Robbie with Jared Leto for a Harley Quinn vs. The Joker spinoff movie.
