There’s some more official movement on Marvel Studio’s Captain Marvel, the Brie Larson-led superhero film that will further explore the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel has tapped Tomb Raider writer Geneva Robertson-Dworet to pen the new script according to Deadline.
Meg LeFauve and Nicole Perlman were originally writing the script, but LeFauve has had to depart the project to direct Disney Animation’s Gigantic. Robertson-Dworet has come in to take over and complete a new script. Her credits include the aforementioned Tomb Raider reboot starring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft as well as another upcoming superhero film in Gotham City Sirens for David Ayer and Warner Bros.
Though Gotham City Sirens was not among WB’s announced DC slate at Comic Con a few weeks ago, Ayer has maintained the project is still a go and he will direct. The film will see Margot Robbie reprise her Suicide Squad role of Harley Quinn as she teams up with Poison Ivy and Catwoman.
