Over a week ago news broke that the fourth episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones current season “The Spoils of War” as well as episodes of Ballers were all leaked online by hackers. Today, it’s being reported that several episodes of the upcoming 9th season of Curb Your Enthusiasm have been leaked online by more hackers, months ahead of the show’s October premiere date.
HBO has issued the following in response to this latest leak:
“We are not in communication with the hacker and we’re not going to comment every time a new piece of information is released. It has been widely reported that there was a cyber incident at HBO. The hacker may continue to drop bits and pieces of stolen information in an attempt to generate media attention. That’s a game we’re not going to participate in. Obviously, no company wants their proprietary information stolen and released on the internet. Transparency with our employees, partners, and the creative talent that works with us has been our focus throughout this incident and will remain our focus as we move forward. This incident has not deterred us from ensuring HBO continues to do what we do best.”
This must be very frustrating for HBO and series creator/ star Larry David as Curb Your Enthusiasm has been taking an extended break (6 years). This new season is highly anticipated, and having a leak like this must be devastating for the network, as well as the cast and crew of the show. A leak like this could very well affect viewers when the show actually does premiere.
Needless to say, it would be very wise to avoid these leaks. Not only is it the product of theft, but it’s been widely reported that all the leaks so far have been of terrible quality. This isn’t the way that these shows were intended to be watched. Best to just wait, and get the best experience possible – especially if you want to see a 10th season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Curb Your Enthusiasm Season 9 premieres in October on HBO.
