Game of Thrones season 7 finale cut scene helps fills in the gaps

August 30, 2017 by Samuel Brace

A scene cut from the finale of Game of Thrones season 7 has been revealed by one of the show’s stars. Spoilers follow…

The usual guessing game of just what would happen during the season finale of Game of Thrones was taking place last week, with many wondering if Sansa would indeed be convinced to do something awful to her sister Arya by Littlefinger.

The finale effectively wrapped up this comparatively minor subplot during the finale, with Sansa ordering the execution of Littlefinger instead of her sister, thanks to the magical abilities of Bran explaining all the schemes and betrayals that Baelish had been responsible for since the show began.

However, events didn’t play out all that smoothly during the episode. Just how long Sansa had known about Littlefinger’s various, supposedly secret schemes, is unknown, as is if she was pretending the entire time to be afraid of her sister, luring Littlefinger into some kind of trap.

Well, thanks to the actor that plays Bran, Isaac Hemptead, we now know that a scene was cut that showed Sansa approaching Bran for his help. The actor told the following to Variety:

“We actually did a scene that clearly got cut, a short scene with Sansa where she knocks on Bran’s door and says, “I need your help,” or something along those lines. So basically, as far as I know, the story was that it suddenly occurred to Sansa that she had a huge CCTV department at her discretion and it might be a good idea to check with him first before she guts her own sister. So she goes to Bran, and Bran tells her everything she needs to know, and she’s like, “Oh, shit.”

This certainly would have been a useful scene to have included in the episode, and explains that Sansa wasn’t conning Littlefinger all along, but was actually considering killing Arya until she thought that consulting her all knowing brother at the last minute might be a good idea.
