A couple of days ago some video from the set of Mission: Impossible 6 emerged online showing Tom Cruise injuring himself whilst performing a stunt for the spy sequel where he had to jump between two buildings. And now, Paramount Pictures has confirmed that Cruise has broken his ankle, forcing production to be shut down for nine weeks to allow him time to heal.
“During production on the latest Mission: Impossible film, Tom Cruise broke his ankle while performing a stunt,” reads the official statement from Paramount. “Production will go on hiatus while Tom makes a full recovery, and the film remains on schedule to open July 27, 2018. Tom wants to thank you all for your concern and support and can’t wait to share the film with everyone next summer.”
Mission: Impossible 6 will see Tom Cruise joined by returning stars Rebecca Ferguson, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin, Sean Harris and Michelle Monaghan, along with new additions Henry Cavill (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Sian Brooke (Sherlock), Angela Bassett (American Horror Story) and Vanessa Kirby (The Crown). It is set for release on July 27th 2018.
