Back in February it was announced that John Carpenter is set for a return to the Halloween franchise to produce a new instalment in the iconic slasher series, which is set to be directed by David Gordon Green, from a script by Green and his regular collaborator Danny McBride.
Thanks to Jason Guerrasio of Business Insider, we now have an update on the project, with Green confirming at the Toronto International Film Festival that the script is now complete and they are aiming to begin principal photography in the fall for a release in October 2018. Furthermore, Carpenter has apparently given notes on the script, “digs it”, and remains keen on composing the score.
Although details on the new Halloween are scarce, it has been confirmed that it will serve as a sequel to the first two movies in the series. It will also be a straight-up horror movie and do away with the supernatural elements introduced in the later instalments.
