It looks like Ben Affleck’s original script for The Batman may have had an unlikely inspiration. Umberto Gonzalez aka “El Mayimbe” had this to say on Twitter today:
…THE GAME also was the inspiration for the previous THE BATMAN script before Matt Reeves started over. https://t.co/nKYvQ3fMkL

El Mayimbe has a very mixed track record when it comes to scoops, however if you decide to scroll down the comments, you may notice something interesting: Joe Manganiello, Deathstroke himself, allegedly “liked” the above Tweet according to several users. As of right now, that like has mysteriously disappeared. If true, however, this would definitely lends some credence to the rumour. Perhaps the actor was told to take it down?
Regardless, the mind wanders when considering a Batman film in the spirit of The Game. The 1997 film is one of David Fincher’s least appreciated movies, and saw Michael Douglas being manipulated after deciding to join a high-stakes game that blurs the line between reality and fantasy. If true, how would Deathstroke fit into this kind of narrative? It seems like something far more appropriate for The Riddler, honestly. While it is disappointing that we will never see Ben Affleck’s version up on the big screen, with the script being rewritten, The Batman would appear to be in good hands with the amazing Matt Reeves.
The Batman is rumoured for a 2018 release with Matt Reeves on board as director, and Ben Affleck returning as Bruce Wayne/ Batman.
