Unbroken getting faith-based sequel Path to Redemption

September 10, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken is set to receive a faith-based sequel, with Deadline reporting that the film’s producer Matt Baer is teaming with director Harold Cronk (God’s Not Dead) for Unbroken: Path to Redemption.

Based on the second half of author Laura Hillenbrand’s book, Path to Redemption will explore Louis Zemperini’s life after World War II. Struggling to get on his feet after suffering PTSD and falling into despair and alcoholism, the young soldier would be put back on the right path by the Rev. Billy Graham.

“I feel incredibly grateful for the opportunity to tell the amazing post-war story of Louis Zamperini’s life that I am confident is going to appeal to both the secular and faith-based audience,” said Baer.

Unbroken: Path to Redemption stars Samuel Hunt (Chicago P.D.) will portray Zamperini, Merritt Patterson (The Royals) as Zamperini’s wife Cynthia, David Sakurai (Iron Fist) as Japanese officer Mutsuhiro ‘The Bird’ Wantabe, and Will Graham, grandson of the Rev. Billy Graham, as his namesake.
