Back in July of last year it was revealed that Paramount Pictures was developing a live-action/CG hybrid adaptation of Norman Bridwell’s Clifford the Big Red Dog book series, and now Variety is reporting that the project has found a director.
Walt Becker, whose previous credits include Van Wilder, Wild Hogs, Old Dogs and Alvin and the Chipmunks, is set to helm the movie, while Ellen Rapoport has come on board to rewrite the script from Justin Malen.
Clifford the Big Red Dog launched in 1963 and revolves around the adventures of a young girl called Emily Elizabeth and her pet dog Clifford, who just happens to be 25 feet tall, and bright red. The books have spawned two animated series, while Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment spent several years in development on an animated feature before the rights ended up at Paramount.
