A new Justice League character description for Ray Fisher’s Cyborg has been released, which reveals that the DC Extended Universe incarnation of Victor Stone is going to differ from that of the comic books.
“Part man, part machine, Victor Stone is a former star athlete at Gotham City University. After a horrific car accident nearly cost his life, he was saved when his father, scientist Silas Stone, used an Apokoliptian Mother Box to reconstruct his body. In the process, Silas turned Victor into a human computer, organic with biomechatronic body parts. In other words, a cyborg.”
In the DC comic book continuity, Cyborg actually has two different origin stories; the first, pre-Flashpoint, saw his parents Silas Stone and Elinore Stone using him as a test subject in various experiments, one of which ultimately led to his transformation after he is mortally wounded when his parents accidentally transport a dangerous alien creature into our dimension. In the New 52 continuity, the accident is changed and Victor is wounded when a Father Box explodes at S.T.A.R. Labs, with his father then saving his life using experimental technology.
