October 4, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Last October it was announced that Deadpool director Tim Miller was developing a live-action movie based upon the iconic SEGA video game character Sonic the Hedgehog, which would see Miller’s Blur Studio collaborator Jeff Fowler making is directorial debut.

Well, THR is reporting that the project, which is being produced by Neal H. Moritz’s Original Film, has now shifted to Paramount Pictures, having been put into turnaround at its original home of Sony Entertainment. Both Fowler and Miller are still on board as director and exeuctive producer respectively, while the plan remains to deliver a blend of live-action and CGI.

The Sonic series has sold over 360 million copies worldwide since its launch in 1991, making it one of the biggest video game franchise of all time.

Are you excited about the prospect of seeing Sonic and friends on the big screen? Could this be the movie to break the video game curse? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
