Throughout the marketing campaign for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there have been several pointers hinting at a turn to the Dark Side for Luke Skywalker; there’s the red theme, the lighting on his face on the theatrical poster, the fact a new IMAX theater standee has him alongside Kylo Ren, General Hux and Captain Phasma, and even comments from Mark Hamill himself stating that “anything is possible”.
Well, we now have a new fan theory pointing towards an evil Luke Skywalker based upon the posters for the previous Star Wars movies, which have a villain looming in the background – much like Luke Skywalker is in The Last Jedi poster…
Well, Hamill has now taken to Twitter to offer a humorous respsonse to the theory, stating that Luke has always been a villain “from a certain point of view”…
NEWS FLASH for all you "Villains Looming at the Back of Posters" theorists: Luke was ALWAYS the villain! (from a certain point of view) 😲 pic.twitter.com/4FzxDbFd4V

As for the theory, it certainly is interesting, and it seems pretty clear the marketing wants us to think Luke may have fallen to the Dark Side. That being said, the poster for Attack of the Clones blows a hole in the theory, unless you’re classing Hayden Christensen and Natalie Portman’s acting as the villain of that movie…
