When Daredevil returns for its third season, it will see the return of the show’s first villain as Vincent D’Onofrio will be returning for a regular role as Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. The Kingpin.
“Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk,” Daredevil‘s executive producer and head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said in a statement.
In addition to D’Onofrio’s return is the news Daredevil is gaining a new showrunner. Erik Oleson, who has worked on Kings, The Man in the High Castle and written several episodes for Arrow, is taking over as showrunner for the third season. He’s replacing Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, both of whom acted as showrunners on Daredevil‘s second season. This isn’t the first time the show has changed showrunners, though, as that duo replaced Steven S. DeKnight from the first season.
Daredevil Season 3 will begin production this year and air on Netflix in 2018. The only confirmed returning stars beyond D’Onofrio are Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page and Eldon Henson as Foggy Nelson. The season will reportedly be based on the ‘Born Again’ storyline, picking up from the end of the crossover series The Defenders.
