Actor Ben Mendelsohn isn’t giving a whole lot away about his villainous character in Captain Marvel.
We learned back in October that Mendelsohn was in talks to play the villain in Captain Marvel (also starring Brie Larson and Jude Law), and now there are rumours circulating (via That Hashtag Show) that the Rogue One actor will be portraying the character Yon-Rogg.
Yon-Rogg is a Kree military officer who first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #12, and who has tried to destroy the character Mar-Vell in the past.
Mendelsohn himself isn’t giving anything away, however, playing pretty coy on the subject when talking with Screen Rant in a recent interview.
Screen Rant asked him about playing Yon-Rogg and what distinguishes him from Mendeloshn’s villainous role in Rogue One, the actor replied: “No idea”.
And then when pressed a little further, asking if he had even heard about the Captain Marvel casting talks, Mendelsohn stated: “No, no. I’ve heard about it. I’ve heard about it plenty, but I’ve no idea.”
Mendelsohn went on to rebuff the interviewer at every turn, saying he simply doesn’t know the details. Whether that is true or not, or if Mendelsohn has been told to stay quiet, the actor knows how to play a villain and should be a fine addition to the cast.
