With Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returning to ABC for its fifth season on Friday, the network has announced an additional cast member for the upcoming season. Dove Cameron – known for her Disney Channel roles as two twins in Liv and Maddie and Mal, Maleficent’s daughter, in Descendants – will be joining the series as an as-yet-unrevealed character.
Cameron also confirmed her casting to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. via her Instagram account in a video, but before she could say what show she was working on or who she would be playing, Clark Gregg’s Phil Coulson escorts her away:

In the season 4 finale, Coulson and his team were abducted by a mysterious group and woke up on a spaceship. The premiere, titled ‘Orientation’, will see the team try to figure out where they are and how to get back home. Whether Cameron plays a fellow abductee or one of their captors remains to be seen.
