Justice League is officially out in theaters, and the response has been very polarizing. So much so, in fact, that fans are now requesting to see the original Zack Snyder-cut of the film. The fans in question feel that they weren’t given the film that was originally promised. Honestly, a call for the original cut isn’t surprising considering that the extended edition of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was, objectively, a much better film than what released in theaters. Also, given the common criticism of Justice League feeling tonally uneven, perhaps the original cut may prove the more cohesive film? Heck, there is even a petition with over 100,000 signatures calling for the release of Snyder’s cut (though it seems that some of those signatures have been forged).
Interestingly, it has been stated that a Snyder cut of Justice League doesn’t even exist, which would obviously render this entire cause moot. However, a new rumor is swirling around Reddit claiming that a Snyder cut of the film DOES exist, and not only that, but it is much more developed than you think. Over at r/DC_CINEMATIC, a mod named TheBatSkeptic is claiming that the cut exists in an “unfinished but notable state”, and that it’s “a rough version that had a lot of finished FX and music.”
While this isn’t confirmation that such a cut exists, r/DC_CINEMATIC is an established sub, and the claim was made by mod who then goes on to announce a revised Snyder-cut petition, free of hateful speech, forged signatures, etc. So basically: there is no proof, but the source seems legit. Only time will tell with this one. Old rumors deemed Snyder’s cut “unwatchable”, and it would be really interesting to see if that’s true, or if the cut was decent, and Warner Bros. was simply feeling the pressure to lighten the film up following the success of Wonder Woman.
