One of the stars of horror blockbuster It has been cast in DC’s Shazam!
Jack Dylan Grazer, who played Losers Club member Edward “Eddie” Kaspbrak in the 2017 Stephen King adaptation of It, is lining up his next project, one that will seem him join the superhero genre.
Grazer will play Freddy Freeman, the best friend of Billy Batson (Shazam). Grazer will join former Chuck star Zachary Levi in the film who is playing the titular superhero. Asher Angel has been cast as Billy Batson, the boy who turns into Levi’s Shazam when he utters his name. In the comic books, Freddy has also assumed the identity of Captain Marvel, Jr., as well as Captain Marvel/Shazam.
The film is to be directed by David F. Sandberg from a screenplay by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke. Shazam! is being produced by Peter Safran with shooting for the project set to get underway early next year.
Star Zachary Levi has recently said that he thinks Shazam! could be DC’s Guardians of the Galaxy.
