Rumour: Gambit could have a villainous love rival in X-Men spinoff

December 25, 2017 by Gary Collinson

With filming on 20th Century Fox’s long-delayed Gambit movie reportedly set to get underway in March, it shouldn’t be too long before we get some official news as to who’ll be joining Channing Tatum’s Remy LeBeau and Lizzy Caplan’s Bella Donna Boudreaux in the cast of the film.

Mister Sinister is rumoured to be the villain of the piece, with reports claiming that Candra the Benefactress will also feature, and now That Hashtag Show is suggesting that Donyell Taylor, a.k.a. Night Thrasher/Bandit, could also make an appearance.

The site has uncovered a casting description for a character called ‘Butler’, who is described as a “Supporting Character (30-40) Rosa’s fiancé, villain with metrosexual charm. Should be physically imposing.”

In the comic books, Taylor is in a rather unsavoury relationship with Gambit’s former flame Bella Donna, so his inclusion in the film would certainly fit. However, the Dwayne Taylor incarnation of Night Thrasher (Donyell’s brother) is also set to appear in Marvel’s New Warriors TV series, so it remains to be seen whether the character falls under the X-Men banner.

Gambit is set for release on February 14th 2019.
