Earlier this week it was rumored that Tom Holland’s Spider-Man may, in fact, be making a cameo in the upcoming Venom solo film starring Tom Hardy. This rumor has fueled hope in many fans, as one of the biggest complaints levelled against the film is the lack of Spidey. This would allow the film to finally give fans something that they have wanted for some time: Spider-Man facing off against his greatest foe on the big screen in a film that isn’t called Spider-Man 3.
Well, not so fast. While there is a rumor that Tom Holland will be making an appearance, there is no guarantee that we will see him as Spider-Man. Talking on an episode of Collider Heroes, Jon Schnepp — who made the initial rumor — clarifies what he meant from Tom Holland making an appearance:
“Tom Holland was on set filming scenes on Venom for at least two days as Peter Parker. Okay, so I’m not saying Spider-Man is in the film. When I say Tom Holland’s Spider-Man is in the film, I’m saying Peter Parker is in the film.”
While there is a possibility that Spider-Man is in the Venom film, we don’t have that particular confirmation from Jon Schnepp. However, if Holland is indeed in the film, it’s reasonable to assume that we may see ol’ webhead appear as well.

All of this news is, of course, in stark contrast to what Sony and Marvel have been saying for a while: that the two universes are completely separate. However, in a world where the X-Men will be joining the MCU very soon, it honestly feels like anything is possible.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland), Venom is set for release on October 5th 2018 and features a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Woody Harrelson, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott and Scott Haze.
