Snowpiercer TV series loses its showrunner

January 25, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Earlier this month it was reported that TNT has given the green light to a full series based upon Bong Joon Ho’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi Snowpiercer, but now comes word that the network will need to find a new showrunner.

Variety is reporting that Josh Friedman (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Emerald City) has exited the project due to creative differences. In addition to serving as showrunner, Friedman was executive producing the series, and also penned the pilot, directed by Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange).

Snowpiercer takes place seven years after a new Ice Age has descended upon the world, with the survivors living on a gigantic train that constantly circles the globe. The series stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Mickey Sumner, Susan Park, Benjamin Haigh, Sasha Frolova, Katie McGuinness, Alison Wright, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Lena Hall.
