Sony has been attempting to figure out how to reignite its Men in Black franchise for a little while now, first with a purported 21 Jump Street/Men in Black crossover titled MIB 23. Now word comes from The Hollywood Reporter that the studio is in talks with Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Ragnarok) to star in a reboot of the franchise which has F. Gary Gray (Fate of the Furious) in negotiations to direct.
The reboot will act in a similar way to Jurassic World, building off the original films but focus on entirely new characters, meaning Will Smith’s J and Tommy Lee Jones’ K will not feature in this new film. Instead, Hemsworth would join a cast that is said to be looking for “a white male, a female of color, and an older man” as the film’s leads in a global adventure.
Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald are returning as producers while Steven Spielberg will also return as an executive producer.
Hemsworth will be next seen reprising his role as Thor in Avengers: Infinity War this summer.
