FOX has announced that it has pulled the plug on M. Night Shyamalan’s Wayward Pines, with the network opting against a third season of the mystery sci-fi drama.
Developed by Chad Hodge and executive produced by Shyamalan, Wayward Pines premiered in 2015, and returned for a second season in 2016.
Given that the show had been off the air for almost 18 months, its future had been uncertain, although FOX entertainment president David Madden offered fans a glimmer of hope last year when he stated that the series wasn’t cancelled, and could possibly return for a third season at some point in the future.
Obviously, the network has since had a change of heart.
Wayward Pines starred Matt Dillon as a U.S. Secret Service Agent investigating the disappearance of two of his colleagues in the mysterious town of Wayward Pines. Also featuring in the cast were Carla Gugino, Toby Jones, Shannyn Sossamon, Juliette Lewis, Melissa Leo, Terrence Howard, Jason Patric, Josh Helman, Hope Davis and Djimon Hounsou.
