Back in December it was announced that Netflix has renewed its Marvel series The Punisher for a second season, and now That Hashtag Show has received word of two new female roles that Marvel Television is looking to cast, which may give us an indication as to the season two storyline.
According to the site, casting is underway for two series regulars, Annie Beir and Kim Davis. For the former, Marvel is seeking an 18-year-old actress to play a 16 year old character, described as “someone who is used to the streets and is both scrappy and aware of her environment.” Kim meanwhile is said to be in her mid-thirties, and a therapist.
Based on the character breakdowns, the site is speculating that season two could be using Garth Ennis’ comic book story arc ‘The Slavers’ as its inspiration. Running between 2005 and 2006 under the Marvel MAX banner, the story saw Frank Castle saving the life of a young girl whom he discovers has been part of a sex slave ring, which naturally leads him to extracting his own ruthless brand of justice on the slavers.
Meanwhile, the report also goes on to claim that casting is underway for a character called Melvin Skelling, described as an honest detective in his early 30s. Again, the site speculates that this could be Detective Martin Soap, another Garth Ennis creation who is assigned to lead the NYPD’s hunt for Frank Castle as the Punisher Task Force.

As yet, there’s no word as to when we can expect to see the second season of The Punisher, but it will presumably arrive after the second seasons of Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist and the third season of Daredevil.
